Piin is a brand-new dating concept so let’s start by explaining our terminology!
Set your intent
This is our favourite Piin feature. We think it’s so important to start of a new connection knowing the other person is looking for the same thing as you. Piin offers four Intent choices, and you can choose a maximum of two during check in:
- Date – choose this if you are looking to date but are not necessarily looking for a long-term relationship
- Love – choose this if you are looking for a long-term relationship and are serious about commitment
- Flirt – choose this if you are looking for something casual or transient
- Hangout – choose this if you want to make a new friend, or are just feeling social and want to spend time hanging with some new people!
Advanced filters
Once of the great features of Pin are the advanced filters. Whilst we suggest that you don’t become so picky that you can’t find anyone, they are there to help you narrow down your search.
When you check in you have two choices:
- Set Preferences
- Unpicky (show me everyone)
You can change your preferences from any screen on the top right ‘filter’ icon. You can also change them via ‘Edit profile’.
- Start by going to your profile
- Click on the circle to the bottom right of the profile image
- Select the “Preferences” button
Check in
Piin uses your GPS to allow you to check in to your favourite spots. This could be a bar, gym, park, airport or anywhere Google recognises a ‘place’. To check in:
- Go to the Home page. Select the ‘Check in’ button
- Under ‘Discover’ → ‘Explore’ tab you can also use the ‘Check in’ button
View users under the Discover tab
My location
Shows you all the people checked in to your exact location.
Nearby
Shows you all the people checked in to locations nearby. Select the location to expand the list of profiles / users who are checked in there.
Explore
Shows all the people who are:
- Checked in to any location within the radius you have set in you ‘preferences’
- Not checked in to any location but have chosen to be visible under ‘Explore’. This setting can be found under ‘My Preferences’.
Basically, it shows everyone within the distance you have set, within your preferences who also meet your intent!
Blur your image
All genders can blur profile images, using a blurring scale located under ‘Edit Profile’. To blur your photos, follow these steps:
- Start by going to your profile
- Click on the pencil / circle icon on the bottom right of the main profile picture circle
- Use the slider to set the level of blurring for your profile images
Your images will be blurred to everyone, including matches until you unblur them. If you want to unblur to matches only, then you should check out of your location. At this point only your matches will have access to your profile and you can unblur your images.
